Tesla Apple Watch. I am (hopefully!) taking delivery of my Model 3 AWD this Saturday (yay!) and have been surprised that the Tesla App for the iPhone does not have Apple Watch compatibility. I have a tethered Apple Watch (most recent version, just didn't want another cell line for a watch), but would enjoy the convenience of being able to control vehicle. Watch for Tesla is Apple Watch only. It's pretty good apart from the fact it seems to stop my car going to sleep, even with the background refresh switched off. So I've uninstalled it for the time being and am monitoring what happens with my car's sleeping - need to have a few days' data to make it more robust statistically. Apple Watch . Since getting an Apple Watch a year ago, I've come to the point where I frequently leave home without my phone. I'm no Apple fanboi but I can appreciate the simplicity of being able to drive my car to the store and buy something without having to carry a phone, wallet, and keys. The Tesla-related iPhone apps that you can access from an Apple Watch reside on the phone, and are just controlled from the watch via Bluetooth. If the phone doesn’t have internet access, because of a weak cell signal, it won’t matter if your watch has WiFi or cellular service, because the phone requires internet access to unlock the car.
